While you guys were probably enjoying your Sunday football, Motive Boardwear was enjoying a sake bomb and strutting their organic tees and recycled board shorts across the catwalk at the Taste Fashion Show. The fashionable event took place at Tatame Sake Lounge; a dark, cozy little spot in Winter Park where you can enjoy a sake-gria and some good beats.
The crowd loved the organic tees like Hammer Heads and Release Me. The male models wearing our board shorts were quite a sight, especially for all the

ladies in the room! Good thing they now have a place to buy these awesome shirts and board shorts in Orlando. Merrigan’s Boutique in Baldwin is one of the only boutiques in the area carrying this premium (but incredibly affordable) new clothing line.
Other area designers included in the Taste Fashion Show consisted of United Culture, The Kat Collection, Desiree Marie Designs, Zakai Clothing and Artistic Reflections. The show encompassed all seasons and included an evening portion as well.
The Motive team had a blast at this event, and we look forward to getting more involved in the community in the upcoming months. I hope to see you at the next fashion show we go to!
-Christy

While most of you were sitting on your butts drinking brews and relishing in the return of College Gameday, the rest of us were beachside for contests galore! First off, the ESA NCFL-Inlet Charley’s had their second contest of the 2009/2010 season this past weekend at Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.
Motive Rider, Pat Marsh reined King as he took first place in the men’s division. Normally a north of the Inlet rider, Pat showed his diverse style against the sometimes fickle NSB surf and came up on top. Here he is gettin’ his props.

Motive Boardwear Rider, Pat Marsh
Second up Motive Rider, Joe Pulido, joined what seemed like the rest of Florida in Cocoa Beach this past weekend for the 24th Annual NFK Surf Festival. The Jax Beach native breezed his way into the Men’s pro longboard semi-finals, and made it all the way to the podium’s second tier.
This National Kidney Foundation fundraiser turned out more than just surf legends, pros and their enamored fans; more than 60,000 people were in attendance. Even CNN showed up for the cause. It was an awesome event, and we plan to have more surfers competing next year!

Our favorite local in Ponce Inlet, Pat Marsh, scored some mon-u-mental waves this past weekend as Hurricane BIll graced the East Coast with epic conditions: no rain (hardly), light winds, and deep, hollow barrels…

Though Bill should have been nicknamed “the Close-out King,” Pat managed to get in deep on a few chest highs and find his way out of the pit…

The big Lue Dog is riding out at OWC this coming weekend for WWA World Championships.
He’s worked his ass off since qualifying at Nationals in early July, and now the dog is hungry for more. It’ll be a dirty day, but look for the dog to reign supreme.
Lewis is becoming widely becoming known for his “lookback” move…if you’re lucky, you might be able to catch it on Friday.

Motive Boardwear is donating a portion of our proceeds to an environmentally-friendly charity. So far we’re looking at the Surfrider Foundation and Greenpeace. Do you have other suggestions? Do you support one of these charities more than the other?
If so, comment here or reply to us at www.twitter.com/motiveboardwear or www.facebook.com/motiveboardwear.
Surfrider Foundation: “Founded in 1984, the Surfrider Foundation is a grassroots environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. The Surfrider Foundation Chapters are the heart, soul and body of the Surfrider Foundation. The Surfrider Chapters act locally to protect their community’s coast. There are 70 Surfrider chapters located along the East, West, Gulf, Hawaiian and Puerto Rican coasts. The Foundation focuses its work on four initiatives: clean water, beach access, beach preservation, and protection of special places.” Quoted from http://www.charitynavigator.org
Greenpeace: “Our core values are reflected in our environmental campaign work: We ‘bear witness’ to environmental destruction in a peaceful, non-violent manner. We use non-violent confrontation to raise the level and quality of public debate. In exposing threats to the environment and finding solutions we have no permanent allies or adversaries. We ensure our financial independence from political or commercial interests. We seek solutions for, and promote open, informed debate about society’s environmental choices.” Quoted from http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/about
We love your input!
