Motive Boardwear believes now is the time to do what we can to “Reverse the Damage” to our society. We do this by creating ONLY 100% organic cotton tees, polos, thermals, hoodies, walk shorts and boardshorts made of recycled polymicrofiber. We also do our best to use sustainable business practices whenever possible. Also, a portion of our proceeds will be going to various "green" charities.
Why Organic Cotton Shirts
Organic cotton is all about how the cotton is grown. Typical cotton uses pesticides that have been proven to cause cancer and does damage to our drinking water, land and air. Organic cotton is grown using no pesticides. (More details about organic cotton can be found below.)
Recycled Board Shorts
Our recycled poly microfiber board shorts are excellent for the environment since these shorts reuse poly microfiber fabric that would’ve been thrown away otherwise. (Bonus- these recycled board shorts also dry amazingly fast!)
- • 100% Certified Organic

What are the differences between Organic Cotton and Conventional Cotton?
- • Organic cotton never uses seeds treated by fungicides or insecticides. Conventional cotton uses fungicides and/or insecticides.
- • Organic cotton never uses seeds from a genetically modified organism (GMO). Conventional Cotton uses GMO seeds.
- • Organic cotton never uses synthetic fertilizers. Conventional cotton does.
- • Organic cotton needs less irrigation since growers use more organic matter in the soil. Conventional cotton uses excessive irrigation.
- • Organic cotton doesn’t use herbicides (weeds are pulled physically). Conventional cotton uses herbicides.
- • Organic cotton uses beneficial insects and other environmentally-friendly means to control pests. Conventional cotton growers often aerial spray pesticides and insecticides that can drift into nearby neighborhoods and eventually can seep into the water supply. The 9 most common pesticides are toxic and 5 are probable cancer-causing carcinogens.
- • Organic cotton relies on the change of seasons to harvest cotton from plants. Conventional cotton growers harvest the cotton using toxic chemicals.
